Honda Accord

Honda hit a home run with their Accord - a top-selling family sedan for the past thirty years. They’ve continued to hit another homer with the Accord’s 2015 lineup. What makes the Accord such a victory? A high-quality interior, refined and efficient power trains, quick acceleration and responsive handling are just a few of the standout qualities found in this ride. Continue reading to learn even more.

The 2015 Accord is available in sedan and coupe body styles and comes with a healthy list of trim levels to choose from. The base LX comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, full power accessories, cruise control and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Rear seats are one-piece folding and the driver seat is height adjustable. Electronics include an eight-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, four-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio jack, iPod/USB audio interface and Pandora Internet radio control. Also included is a rearview safety camera.

If you want a bit more power, the Sport trim houses more horsepower. Wheels are 18 inches, driver seat is eight-way power adjustable, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel comes with shift paddles for the continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Accord’s EX trim builds off the base LX and adds features, such as: 17-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, keyless ignition and entry, power driver seat and leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also sports a sunroof. Electronics gain a six-speaker sound system and Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot display for increased safety.

Gaining many niceties is the EX-L and EX-L with Navi. Included on these trims is upscale level upholstery, driver-seat memory functions, heated front seats and auto-dimming rearview mirror. Safety features include both forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems. The front passenger gains increased comfort with a four-way power-adjustable seat. Technology is increased on these two trims, too, with a more sophisticated rearview camera and premium seven-speaker sound system with six-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio and smartphone app integration. The EX-L with Navi trim adds a navigation system with voice recognition.

All Accords on the 2015 lineup come standard with front-wheel drive and house one of two engines. Standard on most is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder with six-speed manual; the four-cylinder EX-L, however, features a CVT which takes the place of a conventional automatic. This combo is also one of the quickest in its class, sprinting from zero-to-60 mph in 7.8 seconds. The Accord’s V6 engines are even faster, timing just 6.1 seconds.

The 2015 Accord offers a safe experience on the road with each model coming equipped with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. All models also include a rearview camera. Honda does a good job keeping up with the safety features found on the market, too, with upper trim levels boasting blind-spot, lane-departure and forward-collision warning systems.

Honda Civic

Shopping for a compact sedan means a big list of potential choices. One that should hold a spot at the top of your possibility list is Honda’s 2015 Civic. With it comes high fuel economy, a comfortable and composed ride, and spacious interior. Safety scores are also great. For a car that will make a nice companion no matter where life takes you, stick with the Honda Civic.

Driving can be dangerous, which is why Honda equips the Civic with capable safety gear and features. Included on all models of the 2015 Civic is stability control, antilock brakes, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and rearview camera. Depending on trim level, the Civic may also include a right-side blind-spot camera with emergency crash notification.

While safety equipment is solid on the Civic, safety scores are also impressive. In government crash tests, the Civic sedan received the top five-star rating in overall protection; it got five stars in total side safety and four stars in total frontal-impact safety. While the Civic Coupe crash scores aren’t as high as the sedan, they are still very good. The coupe body style was given four stars in overall protection and total frontal-impact safety, and made five stars in total side-impact safety. Both the Civic sedan and coupe received the highest scores possible in several categories when tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Categories include: small-overlap frontal-offset, moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength tests. Both body styles also received the top score in whiplash protection in rear impacts.

The interior of the 2015 Civic features a stylish two-tier dash display with five-inch monitor that displays information for audio, hands-free phone use and various vehicle systems. Found in upper civic trims, you’ll find the HondaLink system, which pairs to a seven-inch touchscreen that provides voice control, audio, navigation and social media functions. Controls and menus are user-friendly and offer quick responses. For anyone who wants a compact car, but still wants adequate passenger space, the Civic is a top choice. Head- and legroom in the front seat boasts competitive measurements; rear space is excellent, too, especially for legroom.

There are several Civic trim levels available on the 2015 lineup, from the base LX to the top EX-L, and the sporty Civic Si to the fuel-efficient HF. One trim of particular interest for many is the Civic Si. The Si is by far the most intriguing behind the wheel. It features sporty content, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, unique front and rear styling tweaks, rear spoiler, bigger engine, limited-slip front differential and sport-tuned suspension. The interior is the most enhanced on the lineup, as well, with front sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, simulated carbon-fiber accents and red backlit gauges.

All models of the CR-V also features revised suspension tuning, which creates a more upbeat, smooth ride, and with improved insulation, the cabin is super quiet.
