The 2015 Honda Accord Continues Its Reign on Top

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord debuted in 1990 and for almost 30 years, it has stood as a top-selling family sedan. The newest models of the Accord’s 2015 lineup continue this reign.

The 2015 Accord is available as a midsize sedan and coupe. It boasts several trim levels - each with either a four-cylinder or 3.5-liter V6 engine. No matter which engine is under the hood, the Accord provides an enjoyable ride, especially for drivers. The 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine is paired to a six-speed transmission and delivers power that is smooth and satisfying. Acceleration is quick and passing maneuvers are also speedy. When equipped with the 3.5-liter V6, the Accord is even faster and makes the driving experience more exhilarating - plus it keeps its impressive fuel economy.

The base four-cylinder LX rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and has dual-zone automatic climate control, full power accessories, cruise control and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Technology includes a rearview safety camera, eight-inch infotainment display and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. For some tunes, there’s a four-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio jack, iPod/USB audio interface and Pandora Internet radio control.

The Sport trim comes with more prominent 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. Comfort is also increased with an eight-way power driver seat with power lumbar support. Another perk of the Sport is that it has more horsepower for better pep.

The Accord’s EX trim builds upon the LX adding items, such as: 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, six-speaker sound system and Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot display.

Opting for the EX-L trim means a gain in many upscale features. Niceties include leather upholstery, driver-seat memory functions, four-way power passenger seat and heated front seats. Safety also gets a boost with features like forward collision and lane-departure warning system and an upgraded rearview camera. Electronics also get a boost with a premium seven-speaker sound system with six-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio and smartphone app integration. If you’re interested in a navigation system with voice recognition, consider the EX-L with Navi trim.

For solid safety equipment and even some added safety bonuses, the Accord does a good job in protecting passengers on the road. Every 2015 Accord comes with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. All models also have a rearview camera to ensure safety when backing up. Upper trim levels gain a blind-spot, lane-departure, and forward-collision warning system.

Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot system is one of the top safety systems delivering upscale functions. It comes with an eight-inch screen display that shows a low and wide view of the passenger side of the car when the right turn signal is engaged. A camera located in the right-side mirror provides this helpful view.
