Honda CR-V

Recent years brought a full redesign to the Honda CR-V, awarding it with a longer list of standard features, a refreshed cabin, enhanced interior materials, and restyled sheet metal. Sounds good so far, right? Well, it gets better! Passenger and cargo space is excellent, handling is smooth, and it houses great tech and family-friendly features.

Inside the CR-V, you’ll find a nice cabin with fluid lines and an upscale vibe. Controls are attractive and well-placed, and all models have a full front console that increases storage capacity. With all seats in place, the CR-V offers 37.2-cubic feet; with rear seats folded this number bumps to a generous 70.9 cubes. Rear seats also slide fore and aft and have an automatic fold-flat feature, which further enhances passenger and cargo space. All models of the CR-V are equipped with many tech features, including Pandora interface and Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, plus an SMS text-messaging function that allows texts to be read over audio speakers.

The CR-V comes in several trims, each with either front- or all-wheel drive. The LX is extremely well-equipped for an entry-level model, making it leaps ahead of typical base models. It comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, keyless entry, full power accessories, and cruise control. The steering wheel is tilt-and-telescoping and the driver seat is height-adjustable, which is perfect for people of all heights to find just the right position. Also included is a rearview safety camera, full-color, multi-information display, steering wheel audio controls, and Bluetooth phone and audio streaming. The sound system comes with four speakers, CD player, Pandora interface, auxiliary audio jack, and USB/iPod interface.

The EX and EX-L offers a plethora of add-ons, including some sport and luxury features. The EX comes with foglights, sunroof, rear privacy glass, retractable cargo cover, and six-speaker sound system. The EX-L further equips the CR-V with roof rails, heated side mirrors, dual automatic climate control, and eight-way power driver seat with power lumbar adjustability. Upholstery is luxe leather and front seats are heated. The sound system gets a nice upgrade with seven speakers and satellite radio. The EX-L with Navi adds navigation with voice controls and real-time traffic, while the EX-L with Rear-Entertainment system boasts a rear DVD entertainment system.

Safety on the CR-V proves excellent in both standard safety gear and crash test scores. On all models, standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a backup camera. In crash testing, the CR-V received the top score in frontal-offset, side impact, and roof strength.

Honda Accord

2015 was a great year for the Honda Accord, awarding it with refined and efficient powertrains, quick acceleration, and responsive handling. It also boasts a generous list of features and the interior is high-quality in all areas. You can choose between sedan and coupe body styles and several fully-loaded models.

Honda starts out the 2015 Accord sedan lineup with the LX. It comes in sedan only and has a healthy list of standard equipment. It comes with full power accessories, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. All passengers are made comfortable with dual-zone automatic climate control. Wheels are 16-inch alloy and under the hood is a four-cylinder engine. For increased safety there is a rearview camera. The sound system comes with four speakers, CD player, auxiliary audio jack, iPod/USB audio interface, and Pandora radio control; there is also Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity.

Nissan offers some adventure with its Sport model, which includes all lower trim equipment and features, plus some sport add ons. It rides on 18-inch wheels and offers more horsepower with a four-cylinder engine paired to a continuous variable transmission. It adorns a real spoiler and has leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. Comfort is increased for the driver with eight-way power adjustable seat with power lumbar support and adjust.

The Accord’s EX trim builds upon the base LX, but includes even more features. This model has 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, and six-speaker sound system. Also included is Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot display for increased safety.

The EX-L and EX-L with Navi trims equip the Accord with several upscale niceties, from leather upholstery to heated front seats, and more. The driver seat gains memory settings, so you’ll always have your fave position, and the front passenger seat is powered with four-way adjustability. The rearview camera gets an upgrade and the sound system has seven speakers with six-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio, and smartphone app integration. The EX-L with Navi gets all of the EX perks, plus adds a navigation system and voice recognition. You can also get the EX trim with a V6 engine for a bit more oomph.

The top Touring trim comes with a V6 engine and offers a nice mix of LED headlights and adaptive cruise control with equipment from the EX-L with Navi trim.

There are a few coupe trim levels worth your attention. The LX-S stands as the coupe’s base-level trim and comes equipped similar to the sedan LX. It rides on 17-inch wheels and has six audio speakers instead of the four found on sedan models of the Accord.

The coupe’s EX trims mirror that of the EX sedans, but the EX-L is powered by a V6 engine, opposed to a four-cylinder. Wheels gain an inch, measuring 18 inches.
