Are you a fan of the Honda CR-V? The 2015 edition is sure to please past buyers, as well as attract some new ones with its top fuel economy, massive passenger and cargo space, and top-notch tech and safety features. Continue reading to learn more about this five-passenger crossover SUV.
LX: The base LX offers a nice list of standard equipment and features. General equipment includes, 16-inch steel wheels, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and air conditioning. It also has full power accessories, cruise control for easy driving, height-adjustable driver seat, and reclining rear seats. The sound system has four speakers, CD player, auxiliary audio jack, iPod/USB interface, and Pandora Internet radio compatibility. Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity is also standard.
EX: The EX trim, while only a step above base-level, gets a mighty leap in upscale features. It gains automatic headlights with LED running lights, sunroof, foglights, and keyless entry and ignition. Front seats are heated and the driver seat has eight-way power adjustability with two-way power lumbar adjustability. The EX includes some bonuses in safety with a blind-spot monitoring system that has a camera that shows the passenger-side blind spot. Technology also runs high on this trim with a seven-inch touchscreen, rearview camera that provides excellent guidelines for back up, etc., and a six-speaker sound system with extra USB port. Two extra tidbits on this trim: rear privacy glass and retractable cargo cover.
EX-L: It seems hard to add onto the EX, but the EX-L manages to do it. This trim adds extras, like roof rails, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Upholstery is leather and it gains an extra audio speaker, totaling seven; it is also equipped with satellite radio.
Touring: The Touring marks the top of the line for the 2015 CR-V. Somehow Honda managed to pack even more into this fully-loaded SUV. It adds upscale features, like projector beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, driver-seat memory settings, and power liftgate. Safety is given a nice boost with a forward-collision mitigation system and lane-departure warning system. There is also a navigation system so you’ll never get lost, plus HD radio.
Safety: Honda’s are known for good safety scores and reliable equipment - and the 2015 CR-V is no exception. As stated previously, the Touring trim includes a standard lane-departure warning system and forward-collision mitigation system. This mitigation system can distinguish between vehicles and pedestrians and warn the driver accordingly. It also applies automatic braking intervention in order to reduce the severity of a collision.
In government crash tests, the CR-V scored four-out-of-five stars in overall crash protection; it got five stars in side crash protection and four stars in frontal crash protection. Scores are also high for the CR-V in testing by the IIHS. It received the highest possible score of ôGood in small-overlap and moderate-overlap frontal-offset impact tests; it also got a score of ôGood in side-impact, roof-strength and whiplash-protection tests. In optional frontal collision warning and mitigation system testing, the CR-V scored an amazing ôSuperior rating making it a standard for all other cars.
