Honda Pilot

If you’re in the market for an SUV that offers a comfortable ride, eight-passenger capacity, and loads of equipment and features, look no further than the 2015 Honda Pilot. This SUV comes in five fully-loaded trims that are sure to please, so check ‘em out!

LX: While the LX stands as the base trim of the 2015 Pilot, it is anything but, due to its generous list of equipment and features. This loaded base trim rides on 17-inch wheels and has keyless entry, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and tri-zone automatic climate control. It also has cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, rearview camera, and trailer hitch. Technology on the LX includes an eight-inch display screen and seven-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio jack, and iPod/USB audio interface.

EX: If you step up to the EX, you’ll gain automatic headlights, eight-way power driver seat with two-way power lumbar adjustability, additional instrumentation, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

SE: Opting for the SE trim means you’ll get a few special add-ons, like sunroof, rear-seat entertainment system, and satellite radio. Wheels are uniquely designed for this trim and stand at 18 inches.

EX-L: For all of the equipment and features already mentioned on lower trims, the EX-L boasts many upscale niceties worth your while. It has heated front seats, leather upholstery and steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror, sunroof, satellite radio, and a four-way power front passenger seat. Optional on the EX-L is a rear-seat entertainment system, which is perfect for anyone who needs to entertain kids in the back. Also optional is a navigation system that comes equipped with voice controls, subwoofer, 15 GB of digital music storage, and customizable vehicle settings. Note: if you decide to get the rear-seat entertainment system or navigation system, you can only get one, not both!

Touring: The Touring stands mighty at the top of the 2015 Pilot line. It comes equipped with features and equipment of lower trims and adds a few more worthwhile tidbits. With the Touring, you’ll get roof rails, front- and rear parking sensors, second-row sunshades, enhanced tire-pressure monitoring system, and 10-speaker sound system. Note: you can equip the Touring with both a rear-seat entertainment system and navigation together, but not separately.

Interior: When you climb into the 2015 Pilot, you’ll find useful, thoughtful details, clear instrumentation, and third-row seating that provides enough room to fit adults. There is also plenty of storage bins and pockets, and a fold-out net and under-floor bin that creates a two-tiered storage space behind the third row (a space typically unusable in other SUVs). Another handy perk of the 2015 Pilot is that the liftgate glass opens separately from the door, allowing storage for longer cargo items, like surfboards, skis, etc.

Honda Civic

Honda Civic

For a reliable used car that’s worth your investment - and is even fun to drive! - opt for the Honda Civic. Continue reading to learn what you’ll get with this great ride.

DX: The Civic’s DX trim serves up just the basics with 15-inch wheels, power windows, height-adjustable driver seat, and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. While there is no stereo included on this model, the previous owner more-than-likely opted for the DX Value package, which equips this trim with a four-speaker CD/MP3 audio system and auxiliary audio jack.

LX: The LX adds onto the DX trim with larger 16-inch steel wheels, keyless entry, full power accessories, and cruise control. There is also a center console with sliding armrest for added comfort and storage.

LX-S: If you get the Civic in the LX-S trim, you’ll get some nice sport features, like chrome exhaust outlet, rear spoiler, and sport front seats. Steering wheel is leather and wheels are bumped from steel to alloy.

EX: For more luxury items, the EX includes a sunroof, six-speaker sound system with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and USB input. It also has ambient console lighting.

EX-L: The EX-L adds some heat with heated exterior mirrors and front seats, plus has full leather upholstery.

Si: The Civic Si is made for the driving enthusiast due to its sporty, upbeat nature. It includes all of the features from the EX trim, but boasts a more powerful engine, sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, foglights, sport seats, and special interior trim.

GX and Hybrid: While the GX mimics that of the LX in features, the Hybrid is equipped similarly to the EX and gains automatic climate control.

Safety: Good safety equipment, high safety scores, reliability - check, check, check! The Civic has it all. Standard safety equipment includes, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, and antilock brakes. While rear drum brakes are standard, the EX and Si have four-wheel disc brakes. The EX-L, Hybrid, and Si are also equipped with stability control.

In government crash tests, the Civic received a perfect five stars in frontal impacts. In side impacts, it got four stars for front passenger protection and five stars for rear passengers.

The IIHS gave the Civic sedan the top rating of ôGood in frontal-offset and side-impact tests. The coupe received an ôAcceptable rating (second best).

Power: The Civic comes standard with front-wheel drive and adequately powered engines. Under the hood of the DX, LX, and EX, you’ll find a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine paired to either the standard five-speed manual transmission or the optional five-speed automatic transmission. While manuals tend to be quicker, the automatic is just as sufficient.

A 1.8-liter engine is also found in Civics in the GX trim. However, these models are fueled by compressed natural gas.

The Civic Hybrid model is equipped with a gasoline/electric hybrid powertrain to maximize fuel economy. The engine is a 1.3-liter four-cylinder paired to a CVT.

The Civic Si is by far the peppiest due to its 2.0-liter engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission.

Upholstery is leather and it gains an extra audio speaker, totaling seven; it is also equipped with satellite radio.

It also applies automatic braking intervention in order to reduce the severity of a collision.

In government crash tests, the CR-V scored four-out-of-five stars in overall crash protection; it got five stars in side crash protection and four stars in frontal crash protection. Si: Driving enthusiast? Then the Civic Si is for you! The Si is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, foglights, unique front and rear styling, rear spoiler, bigger engine, limited-slip front differential, and sport-tuned suspension. It also gains interior upgrades. But, that’s not all. The Si has front sport seats, leather steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, simulated carbon-fiber accents, and red backlit gauges.

Touring: The Touring trim marks the top-of-the-line for the Accord sedans. It packs more pep with its V6 engine and equipment from the EX-L with Navi trim. It also gains LED headlights and adaptive cruise control.

There’s not too much to say about the coupe body styles - but here are a few tidbits to grab your interest.

The coupe’s base-level LX-S mimics the base-level LX sedan, but has six audio speakers instead of four and rides on 17-inch wheels. The coupe’s EX trims are equipped similar to the EX sedans, but the EX-L coupe boasts 18-inch wheels.

Safety: Outside of the basic info about what each trim offers, we wouldn’t be giving the 2015 Accord the credit it deserves if we didn’t discuss its high safety scores and top safety gear.

In government crash testing, the Accord sedan was awarded a perfect five stars in overall protection and side-impact safety; it got four stars in total frontal-impact protection. The coupe got even higher marks, earning five stars across the board.

In testing by the IIHS, both body styles received the top score of ôGood in moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength protection tests.
