The Used Honda Accord: reliability to 200,000 miles and beyond

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord offers many pros, like great space, excellent visibility, and high resale value. But no perk is as prominent and beneficial as its reliable reputation. Honda’s are known as a brand that keeps on ticking - and the Accord is no exception. If you’re looking for a used car that has the ability to continue running to 200,000 miles and beyond, the Honda Accord is the way to go.

The Honda Accord offers a sporty, fun-to-drive ride that’s safe, well-made, and of course, reliable. It comes in sedan and coupe body styles with several great trims for each. Check ‘em out below.

The LX sedan has mainly the basics, like 16-inch steel wheels, full power accessories, cruise control, and fold-down rear seats. The sound system includes six speakers, single-CD/MP3 player, and auxiliary audio jack. It also has keyless entry, which gives it a more up-to-date feel.

The LX-P sedan adds onto the LX trim with auto up/down front windows and power driver seat. Wheels get a small bump to 16-inch alloy.

Marking the base trim of the Accord’s coupe body style is the LX-S. This trim offers most of the equipment found on the sedan’s LX-P trim. It also gains an in-dash six-CD changer.

Offered as both a sedan and coupe trim is the EX. The sedan version has an in-dash six-CD changer, while the coupe gets upgraded to a premium stereo system with subwoofer.

The EX-L trim comes in both sedan and coupe and includes some niceties, like leather upholstery, automatic headlights, and dual-zone climate control. They also have Bluetooth, leather steering wheel, heated front seats, and satellite radio. Differences include the premium stereo system from the EX coupe for the sedan and a power driver seat for the coupe.

The Accord offered only one lone add-on option and it was for the EX-L trim. If you luck out and find one that includes it, you’ll get a navigation system with voice activated controls.

Power: The Accord can be found with one of three engines. Under the hood of the LX and LX-P sedans is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. There is also an upgraded version of this engine offered on the EX sedan and coupe. Standard on the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines is a five-speed manual. However, you may find it in a five-speed automatic, as well. EX trims of the Accord also come with the optional 3.5-liter V6 engine. Sedans with this engine will be found as a five-speed automatic, while the coupes with this engine can only be found as a manual.
