The Honda Civic has remained at the top of the compact car ranks for years - and with good reason. Civics are smooth, fuel-efficient, comfortable, spacious and score high in safety. The 2015 Honda Civic is available in two body styles: sedan and coupe. Both are at the top of their game, so let’s check out what’s new with the Civic this year.
The 2015 Honda Civic, sedan and coupe, comes in several trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Civic Si. Here are a few of the main features you’ll find in each.
- LX: The base level LX comes with 15-inch steel wheels, a five-inch touchscreen display, rearview camera, SMS text message functionality and four-speaker sound system.
- EX: The EX provides keyless ignition and entry, sunroof and seven-inch central touchscreen display. Opt for the coupe and you’ll get a seven-speaker sound system.
- EX-L: At the top of the line, the EX-L rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and has fog lights, leather upholstery and heated front seats. The EX-L and Navi adds a navigation system, plus HD and satellite radio.
- Civic Si: With a playful attitude, the Civic Si provides fun-to-drive qualities like refined suspension and quick steering. It also adds upgraded, sportier features like a rear spoiler, bigger engine, aluminum shift knob and red backlit gauges. Tires are also bumped up to 18 inches.
Step inside the new Civic and you’ll find many great features. There is now a driver-oriented two-tier dash display that houses a five-inch monitor on the top tier. This monitor displays information for audio, hands-free phone use and various vehicle systems.
Climb into upper trims and you’ll find some extras, like the HondaLink system, which connects to your smartphone (now only for Apple smartphones). The HondaLink system operates through the seven-inch touchscreen and provides voice control, plus a variety of search, audio, navigation and social media functions.
One of the top features of the new Civic is its adequate amount of space. It has excellent rear-seat accommodations due to a rear bench that is mounted high enough to provide not only proper thigh support for adults, but also true leg room to comfortably seat taller individuals.
The new Civic continues the well-known high safety ratings of its previous models from both government crash tests and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In government testing, the Civic sedan received five stars for overall protection and total side crash safety; it was given four stars for total frontal impact safety. The coupe received four stars for overall protection and total frontal impact safety; it achieved five stars in side crash safety.
The Civic coupe and sedan both got ôGood ratings by the IIHS in the categories of: small-overlap frontal offset, moderate-overlap frontal offset, side impact, roof strength and whiplash protection in rear impacts.
