Get Top Safety Scores and Continuous Reliability with the 2015 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V continues to appeal to the masses with its continuous reliability and top safety scores. If these categories fit your needs, keep reading to learn more about this must-have car.

New this Year:

The 2015 CR-V gets a few new upgrades this year, such as refreshed exterior styling and new rear-climate vents. Available in the EX trim and up is a 7-inch touch-screen that’s linked to a LaneWatch blind-spot monitoring system. At the highest end, the Touring trim provides even more technologies if desired.

Under the Hood:

All of the newest models of the CR-V have now switched to the Honda Accord’s direct-injected four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, the 2015 CR-V is rated at 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. All trims have the option of front- and all-wheel drive.

A Peek Inside:

Take a peek inside the newest CR-V and you’ll find a very practical cabin that provides great space for passengers and cargo. Inside holds a premium vibe due to a soft-touch dashboard with simulated stitching. Child safety LATCH anchor points in all three seating positions also make the CR-V a good family vehicle.

Included across the board is a Bluetooth (phone/audio) text-message reader with digitized voice and Pandora compatibility.

Safety ratings for the new CR-V prove impressive. In government crash testing, the CR-V received four out of five stars in overall and frontal crash protection; it got five stars in side crash protection.

The IIHS gave the CR-V ôGood ratings in, small-overlap and moderate-overlap frontal-offset impact tests; it was also rated ôGood in side impact, roof strength and whiplash protection.

Most impressive is the ôSuperior rating the CR-V received in the optional frontal collision warning and mitigation system.

All models of the CR-V come with a rearview camera for extra safety while backing up and parking.

Want to know the basic safety equipment? Here’s a rundown:

    • anti-lock disc brakes
    • stability and traction control
    • active front head restraints
    • front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags
    • Available on upper trims: blind-spot, lane departure and forward-collision warning systems.

There have been a few changes to storage space in the 2015 CR-V. While past models contained large storage consoles that could swallow a whole purse, storage sizes have now been reduced. While this may seem like a downgrade, it actually proves to be a plus. Why? Because smaller items like phones, pens and other gadgets are now much easier to store and find.

While new, smaller item storage has decreased a bit, cargo space behind the rear seats is large, measuring 35.2 cubic feet. Lower the rear seat-backs and the size jumps to 70.9 cubic feet; this is a top figure for the segment.
