Honda Accord

Used Honda Accord

No matter how new or old your used Honda Accord is, there is still a chance that the brakes might eventually fail. The trick is to catch them before they do. Mechanics say that if the driver hears an unusual sound coming from the brakes, they should immediately stop driving the car. For this reason, learn to detect these signs that can point to a problem with the brake pedals:

1. Low Fluid Levels

Examine the tank containing the fluids to determine the fluid level. If the level is too low, fill it up. At times, the tank or the oil may contain debris and dirt; drain the oil, clean the tank, and fill it up with the recommended fluid. Keep in mind to put the fluid in the tank slowly to prevent it from splashing on your engine or clothes.

2. Replace the Brake Pads

When you buy your vehicle, be sure to check the brake pads regularly. If the brake pads are worn, replace them instantly. Your dealership can provide you with replacements or you can find them at an auto repair shop.

3. Check the Brake Fluid for Dirt

Regardless of how tightly you close the tank, the brake fluid in it can still become filthy and dirty. Contaminants such as water, debris, and dirt can find their way inside the fluid. Like the brake pads check the brake fluid regularly to see if it's clean or not. Refer to the car's manual to find out which brake fluid you should buy for your car.

4. Inspect the Brake Booster

If you think the brake booster is at fault here, connect the booster to a vacuum measurement gadget to see if you need to replace them. If the gadget detects a problem, take the car to a mechanic.

Brake failure can result in a fatal crash. If you think that your brakes are making strange noises don't wait for the situation to get worse. Malfunctioning brakes will not only be a threat to you, but to your passengers and pedestrians as well.

Honda CR-V

Used Honda CR-V

Driving a car before you purchase it can help you make an informed decision. Investing in a car whether used or new is a major decision that shouldn't be made just because you like how a car looks. For instance, let's say you are planning to buy a used Honda CR-V EX, overall a spectacular car, and you tell the dealership that you want to take it for a test drive first. Once you are behind the wheel, it's time to put the car through a test.

1. How comfortable are the Seats?

Instantly, sitting on the seat will give you a feel for it. Are they soft or hard? Does the seat provide you with good back support and leg space? Lastly, ask yourself, if you could manage to sit behind the wheel for more than one hour during a road trip.

2. Do you like the Layout of the Car's Cockpit Ergonomics?

Most people have an idea of how they want the car's cockpit ergonomics to look like. The Honda CR's cockpit is pretty impressive, but the looks alone shouldn't determine your purchase. Think about the following points:

  • The height of the steering wheel
  • The position of the gauges when you adjust the wheel
  • The location of the radio and heater controls, try adjusting them to see if you can do so easily without taking your eyes off the road
  • Open the car windows to see how far they can be rolled down

3. Does the Engine make too Much Noise?

While driving the car, listen to the noises the engine makes. For instance, a tapping or ticking sound may indicate a problem with the engine. If tapping continues throughout the drive, the car may have a bad hydraulic filter or the valves may require adjustment. If the car is equipped with power steering, turn it from side to side to listen for a squeal.

4. Does the Steering Vibrate?

The steering shouldn't vibrate, but if it does, a tire may be unbalanced. If the wheel shakes when you brake, the problem may lie in the warped brake rotor.

Used Honda Civic

Used Honda Civic

Do you regularly shower, wear fresh clothes, brush your teeth, etc? Of course, most of us do that, in fact, it is mandatory to take care of oneself. The way you present yourself to others matters greatly. So, why shouldn't it be the same for your used Honda Civic LX? Just like you, you car needs to be kept in good working condition. You can keep your Honda Civic immaculate by tuning it. If you spot the following signs, tune up your car:

1. Your Car Guzzles More Fuel than Usual

Have you noticed a difference in the number of times you have to go to the gas station to refuel your car? If you have, your car is in dire need of a tune up. When the car is out of shape, it will use up a lot of fuel, resulting in astronomical gas bills.

2. Your Car's Exhaust System Releases a Foul Stench

The disgusting smell that you inhale each time you start your car is probably coming from your exhaust system. The dark vapors emitting from the exhaust system are clear indicators that it's time to schedule your car for a tune up.

3. Your Engine Is Making Unusual Sounds

If unusual sounds are coming from your engine, take your car to a mechanic. Even then if you neglect to take it, your engine may start to idle, which is not a good sign. Take your 2007 Honda Civic LX to the mechanic immediately.

4. Your Car Doesn't Easily Start Up

If your car is taking too long to start up or your have to put in effort to start it, take your car to the mechanic quickly. Take your vehicle to the nearest mechanic before it completely stalls.

Ignoring these signs is going to make the problem worse and you shouldn't drive the vehicle if you spot these signs. The earlier your car gets a tune-up, the fewer problems it will encounter down the line.

Used Honda Element

Honda Element

These blog posts are from guest authors who bought cars from us and wanted to share their stories.

It was only a few months ago when I bought a used Honda Element EX. I came across this car when I was researching for a project. My shop teacher had told us to research a car whose model we would later make. Therefore, I was on the search for a car that wouldn't be too difficult to make, but yet would score me an A. During my research, the 2007 Honda Element EX struck me as something I could make.

I had looked at two other cars, which were Honda, Civic and Pilot, but I liked the unique boxed shape of this car. After reading about the car's specification and features, I needed to decide on the year. I settled on the 2007 model. Now, it was time to choose a car dealership.

The primary reason to visit a car dealership was so we could see the car from the inside and to incorporate details of the interior. I called up my friend who was with me in shop class to come with me to a local dealership. We asked the salesperson to show us the car that he wanted and the one I wanted. After my friend took pictures and wrote down details that he needed to incorporate, it was my turn to do the same.

The salesperson directed me towards the 2007 Honda Element EX. The car was just as it looked on the car dealership's site. The salesperson asked us if we wanted to take the car for a test drive. I told my friend that there wasn't any harm in doing. With the salesperson seated in the backseat and my friend in the passenger's seat, I sat behind the wheel and took the car for a spin.

When I went home, I asked my parents if they could sell my car and get me the 2007 Honda Element EX. They agreed, as it would be a fair deal. Oh, and I got an A on my project.

If you have a story to tell us from the time you bought a car from our dealership, write to us. Also, visit us at Washington Honda in Washington, PA to look at our array of cars.

Honda Fit

Used Honda Fit

You're driving your used Honda Fit on the road when it suddenly breaks down. You're stuck on the road, but some bystanders help you out and a tow truck delivers your car home. Now, you have to fix the car so you can drive it again soon. However, finding a reliable mechanic is a challenge. You can't risk giving your car in the hands of an inexperienced mechanic who may make the problem worse. By following these steps, they will lead you to a trusted mechanic:

1. Learn About Your Car

Look up information on the Honda Fit Sport online to understand the basic information on the car such as the oil filter, tires, engine, steering wheel, or any other parts. Start with the car's manual first to get a better understanding of the car.

2. Search for a Garage

Mechanics usually specialize in repairing specific car models. When you visit the garage, ask them if they have a mechanic who specializes in fixing Honda cars, specifically the 2008 Honda Fit Sport.

3. Understand the Problem Yourself

There have been cases where the mechanic tells the customer that while they were fixing one problem they encountered countless others. In order to fix the newly discovered ones, he/she would need to replace the old parts with the new ones. A simple repair could end up costing you tons of money, something you want to avoid. When you visit them, ask them to tell you now if they think other repairs need to be made rather than after.

4. Visit Your Local Car Dealership

Your car dealership can refer you to a good mechanic if they have someone in mind. Most probably, your dealership that you bought the car from can provide you with additional parts for your car. The dealership may even service your car for you.

5. Ask People around You

Friends and family can direct you to a reliable mechanic. Consider his or her suggestions, and then go to each different mechanic to get an estimate or quote.

If you are looking for a reliable car dealership, visit us at Washington Honda located in Washington, PA. Our variety of high-quality used cars is sure to amaze you. Our representatives can also refer you to a reliable mechanic. Also, visit our blog frequently for car tips.
