2014 Honda Civic Hybrid

Used Honda Civic LX

Are you going away for the weekend? If you are, did you remember to take your Used Honda Civic for service? You forgot, didn't you? If you forgot now or you have the habit of forgetting, you may not want to do that anymore. Getting your car serviced before you leave for holidays or a long road trip is essential for your car. You don't want to face car problems while on the road.

Don't Wait until It's Too Late

You are looking forward to the weekend and are excitedly packing for it, but it feels like you are forgetting something. You are forgetting about getting your car ready for the road trip especially if you are travelling more than 2000 miles.

You need to service your car at least two to three weeks prior to your trip. Waiting until the last minute will only delay your trip and neglecting to do it on purpose will give you trouble down the line. You never know what type of car trouble you may encounter.

There could be an oil leak, busted engine, screeching brakes, or worse, a faulty engine. Car service can uncover a lot of things and making a habit to do it after every few months can save you money on repairs.

Get Your Car Serviced before Holidays

In order to have a wonderful and safe trip in your Honda Civic, you can't wait to get your vehicle serviced during the busiest times of the year. You will have to wait a long time until you get your turn if you decide to get your car serviced during Christmas, Spring break, or Thanksgiving.

Therefore, on your holiday checklist put down ôneed to get my car serviced on Wednesday. Another disadvantage on getting your car serviced during holidays is that the service folks will not pay attention to the car, but will service the ca in a hurry. This is due to the amount of clients that come to them during the holidays. Before winter break arrives for instance, take your vehicle to get it serviced so the service folks can have their time with it.

At Washington Honda in Washington, PA, we understand the importance of keeping your vehicle in top condition and that is why we recommend getting a vehicle serviced. Do come visit us as well to see our array of used cars.

Honda CR-V

Used Honda CR-V

These blog posts are from guest authors who bought cars from us and wanted to share their stories.

You are at the mall, you see the girl/boy of your dreams, and she/he stares back at you, your eyes meet, and instant attraction. I was looking for something like that to happen with me, but in the context of a car. I was yet to find that one car that would sweep me off my feet. If I only knew that in a couple of months, I would run into one in a parking lot.

Just like every day after my shift, I headed for the bus stop to catch my bus. While I was on my way, a car backed out suddenly and I jumped back. The driver got out and began to apologize profusely, but the car's presence had captivated all my senses. The only question I asked him was about the make and model of this car he was driving.

Surprised to hear me ask something so odd, he told me that it was a used Honda CR-V SE. I prodded him for more information. That day I learned that it was a used 2011 model, but the dealership he bought the car from sold high quality used cars. He also told me that so far he had no trouble driving the vehicle. He offered me a ride back home, which I happily accepted.

The interior of the Honda CR-V SE was quite spacious, the features were up-to-date, and the safety features were reliable. We exchanged phone numbers and he promised to take me to the car dealership the next day.

He picked me up in his car and we went to the car dealership. Lucky for me, they still had a Honda CR-V SE in stock. The sales person offered me to take it for a test drive, which again I happily accepted. Being in such a grand vehicle was a wonderful experience and I wasted no time in signing the contract.

If you have a story about a vehicle that you just had to buy as soon as you saw it, please share it with us and we will publish it on our blog. We hope to see you soon at Washington Honda in Washington, PA, the largest seller of used and new cars.

2013 Honda Odyssey LX V6

The 2013 Honda Odyssey, a van, is a family-friendly vehicle. Large families benefit from buying a van due to it spacious seating and comfortable interior. Although most people are turned off by the mere announcement of the word van, the car is useful in many ways. The 2013 Honda Odyssey may be a van, but it is a stylish one. You would look fabulous driving it. If the beauty of the Honda Odyssey won’t convince you of its worth, the reasons below may persuade you:

  1. Vans have Better Fuel Economy

Families that want to switch to a more compact car that saves them money on gas can make the switch to a van. On a side note, you will have additional money left to arrange a road trip.
  2. Vans are Equipped with Safety Features
    1. Since vans are family-friendly vehicles they come equipped with all the latest safety features. In vans, you will most often find knee airbags, rear-view cameras, and other safety features. Vans are always crash tested, as their main target market is families.
  3. Children Will Love the Van's Features
    1. Going on long trips with kids will not be a hassle, as kids can entertain themselves with the van's entertainment features. Some vans, not all, are usually equipped with entertainment systems, iPod interfaces, and Bluetooth capabilities. Throughout the whole trip, your children may not make a peep, as they will occupy themselves with the van's entertainment system.
  4. Vans are Spacious
    1. What is that one thing that becomes a problem when going on trips? Apart from getting your kids to agree (if you have any), parents have to worry about fitting in all the suitcases. Fortunately, with vans, parents will not have to face this issue. The Honda Odyssey for instance is a spacious vehicle with a roomy interior to keep your belongings safe.

If you are in the market for a van, we suggest you buy the 2013 Honda Odyssey LX V6. If you don’t like vans, we have other vehicles that you can purchase. Visit our blog and us.

Used Honda Pilot

Used Honda Pilot EX-L Brake Tests

Your Used Honda Pilot will remain in superb condition if you properly conduct a thorough inspection of the entire car. You have to look at various things such engine, tires, oil leaks, and brakes. Right now, the focus is on brakes, as they are a critical part of securing the vehicle readying it for driving it on the road and highway. Therefore, automobile drivers need to comprehend the importance of taking the vehicle out on the road and here is how they can do it:

  1. Inspect the Brake Discs
    1. If the discs are dirty, clean them before proceeding. After that, inspect the thin groves found inside the discs, they should be smooth. If the groves look distorted or worn, replace them. Replace them even if you only encounter a fault with one of the discs.
  2. Inspect the Brake Pads
    1. Upon inspection, if the brake pads are 1/8 inch left on the pads, replace them instantly. Do not wait until they are totally worn out, as they can damage the discs (discs are expensive to replace). Brake pads are cheaper to replace and you should check your 2008 Honda Pilot's brakes regularly.
  3. Inspect the Brake Rotor Thickness
    1. Ask the car dealership or refer to the Honda Pilot's manual to see the required brake rotor thickness. Most manufacturers suggest that drivers should maintain 0.3 to 0.6 brake rotor thickness. If the vehicle's brakes are not within these margins, replace them.
  4. Inspect the Brake Lines
    1. A soft rubber conceals the brake lines. If the soft rubber is cracked or stiff, replace the brake lines. Driving with eroded brake lines is extremely dangerous and you should avoid driving your vehicle until your Honda Pilot is equipped with new ones.
  5. Inspect the Brake Fluid
    1. If you are unsure about what brake fluid your Honda Pilot uses, refer to its car manual or ask a mechanic. Plus check the level of brake fluid regularly. If the level is too low, fill it up with the correct brake fluid, as the wrong one can damage the car. Remember to inspect them at least twice a year.

2013 Honda Accord

Used Honda Accord

Engine air filter prevent debris from entering your engine, but what happens when the air filter, itself, is filled with it? When your used Honda Accord's air filter accumulates dust overtime, you will need to replace it with a new one. What can happen if you don't replace it? You engine will work harder and the car will use up more fuel resulting in more expenditures.

How can you tell when you need a new air filter? Here is how you can tell:

  1. Look at the Owner's Manual
    1. When you bought your Honda Accord, you probably got an owner's manual with it. The owner's manual will tell you when you need to replace your engine's air filter.
  2. Your Location Matters
    1. Another indication that your engine's air filter may need to be changed depends on where you reside. If you live close to the beach, sand will clog up the air filter really fast. You may need to check the air filter often to see how much debris has formed on it.
  3. Examine the Engine's Air Filter
    1. Open the hood of your engine to access the air filter. Examine the air filter for dirt, sand, and debris. In addition to that, look for oil saturation as well. If you happen to find a lot of dirt and debris, replace the air filter. In case of oil saturation, do not change the air filter. That is when you need to take your car to the mechanic. Also, look for any unwanted objects lodged into it.
  4. Decide if You Really Need a New Air Filter
    1. The decision depends on the condition of the air filter. If the filter appears excessively filthy or it's falling apart, it is better that you don't wait to replace it, but do it instantly. If a repair shop asks you to change the air filter for instance, ask them to show you the condition of the air filter first before they change it. After they have installed the new filter, ask them to let you view it to see if they actually did what they said.
